One of the recommendations from the VCV Rack website is to start out with a finite set of modules. I think this is a good approach. When you have an unlimited set of modules the tendency is to explore the modules rather than creating.
The Cosmic Core Synthesizer is a set of the Core and Fundamental modules from VCV.
I am using this as my default template in VCV Rack.
